A treasure off Indonesia’s unspoiled Lombok Island, Gili Air is a quiet tropical island home to white sand beaches, azure waters, and coral reefs. Sandy paths wind around quaint island. You won’t find any major resorts here. Beach bungalows and charming villas make up the romantic island’s accommodation. Just offshore, colorful fish and sea turtles mill about the reefs. And at sunset, everyone gathers on the west side of the island to watch. From beach swings at sunrise to life underwater and sunset drinks, here are 15 photos to inspire you to visit Gili Air! Upon arrival, you’re greeted by Gili Air’s white sand beaches that surround the island.
No motorized vehicles here! Just beach paths, bikes, and horse-drawn carts.
Beautiful blues everywhere you look around. The other Gili Islands, Gili Meno and Gili T are visible just off in a distance.
My favorite thing to do on Gili Air is to swim along the reef. The reef is just offshore so you can easily wade out from most beaches to explore (just made sure to wear reef shoes and/or flippers). Turtles and colorful fish are everywhere here!
Another Gili Air favorite – beach swing at sunrise.
The beach bars on the west side of the island are prime for sunset viewing. Grab a bean bag and enjoy the show!
Sunset drinks at Mowie’s, one of Gili Air’s best beach bars, is a must.
Have I convinced you to visit this tropical island paradise?
Wow. Stunning. We went to Lombok not Gili and now of course I need to go back and go to Gili!
Beautiful photos! We really enjoyed our time on Gili a few years ago…no cars… What’s not to love?
I just wish it didn’t take over 30 hours to fly to Indonesia. Or I would book a visit this year. I am so jealous of those tropical views.
