H10 Madison Hotel

I booked the H10 Madison Hotel on a girls’ trip to Barcelona in February. In selecting a hotel, our top priorities were a good location to explore from, rooftop views, and a sense of luxury, all at a reasonable price. After much research, we settled on H10 Madison, a newer 4-star establishment in the heart of Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter. We were thrilled with our decision!

Headquartered in Barcelona, H10 is one of Spain’s top hotel companies with more than 65 hotels throughout Europe and the Caribbean. H10 has 15 establishments in Barcelona alone, primarily 4-star properties, with H10 Madison being one of the newest. PSA: Sign up for a free H10 Membership to receive 5% off all bookings.

The entrance to H10 Madison is tucked away on a quiet one-way alley just off a bustling street. At the other end of the alley sits the impressive Barcelona Cathedral, which makes for incredible views each time you leave the hotel. Upon arrival, we were welcomed with smiles, elegant décor, and complimentary Cava in the lobby. The hotel has an industrial Barcelona feel, while at the same time being filled with enough greenery to make you forget that you’re in the middle of a city. And as a group of girls traveling with large suitcases, we were pleased with how spacious our basic Classic room was!

Within the hotel there are two food and drink options: The Avenue Restaurant & Cocktail Bar and rooftop Terrassa del Gòtic, which is exclusive to hotel guests. Guests also have access to an off-site gym.

Here’s why I loved this hotel…

Location

Step outside the lobby, look to your right, and enjoy a view that never gets old—the stunning Barcelona Cathedral. The H10 Madison is ideally situated within the charming narrow streets of old town Barcelona in the Gothic Quarter and next to El Born neighborhood. Stay here and you can walk to many of the city’s major attractions in addition to the trendiest restaurants and bars in El Born. You can find my list of top places to eat and drink in Barcelona here. Some of the attractions within walking distance include Parc de la Ciutadella, La Rambla, La Barceloneta, Passeig de Gràcia, and Plaça de Catalunya, to name a few. We opted to take a cab to Sagrada Família, Park Güell and Bunkers del Carmel.

Private Rooftop Terrace – Terrassa del Gòtic

If I’m being honest, the photos of Terrassa del Gòtic (H10 Madison’s private rooftop terrace) are what sold me on the hotel. The turquoise pool with the imposing cathedral as a backdrop is so unique. This area is exclusive to guests, which means you never have to worry about finding a spot—whether it be by the pool, near a table, or under a heater with a blanket. This is a great spot to relax and recharge only a few steps from your room. Grab a glass of Cava from the lobby or order a drink at the bar and enjoy the cityscape!

Service

The staff is super friendly and helpful, which is always a welcome addition when traveling abroad. Everyone always had a smile on their face and were eager to answer any questions we had. They arranged all major attraction ticket purchases—Sagradra Família, Park Güell, etc.—and printed the tickets in advance for us. (Not having to figure out where to buy tickets online made things much easier). In addition to our spacious rooms, the nightly turndown service was a nice touch for a 4-star hotel. Lastly, the complimentary bottles of water in our room and Cava in the lobby was much needed—it’s the little things that make the biggest difference!
